Please join AEE New England on December 4th for a virtual lunch-and-learn on cybersecurity within the energy sector and built environment!

Jim Butler, CTO at Cimetrics, will walk us through the process of risk assessment to determine what types of attacks your facility and systems are most vulnerable to, steps to mitigate the highest priority risks, and standard operating procedures to ensure risks are monitored on an ongoing basis. Jim will use examples from building control systems to demonstrate real-world implementation of these recommendations.

Bridgette Bourge, CEO of Bridgette Bourge Security (BBS) LLC, will discuss the current security policy and threat environment facing the electric sector. She will highlight numerous tools and resources - many of them free - that can help entities strengthen their cybersecurity postures for both the present and future. Mrs. Bourge will emphasize resources that can help enhance critical infrastructures security toolboxes. Her presentation is built on the fact that true security lies in preparedness, encompassing resilience and responsiveness from the granular to the whole.

Jim Butler, CTO, Cimetrics
Jim Butler serves as Chief Technology officer at Cimetrics, where he has overall responsibility for the company’s product development. Mr. Butler has been an innovator in embedded networking technology for building automation and was a significant contributor to the design of the BACnet network protocol (ASHRAE Standard 135), the BACnet test standard (ASHRAE Standard 135.1), and the Facility Smart Grid Information Model (ASHRAE/NEMA Standard 201).

Bridgette Bourge, CEO, Bridgette Bourge Security (BBS) LLC
Bridgette Bourge is an expert on critical infrastructure security and resilience with decades of experience in leading, advising, and strategizing at and around the nexus of public-private critical infrastructure, local and state governments, the U.S. government as well as international institutions and governments. With over 25 years of experience in critical infrastructure security for both private and public sectors, Ms. Bourge assists entities in navigating the policy environment and addressing issues to keep communities, critical infrastructures, the United States, and private entities secure and resilient. Over the past decade, she has focused extensively on the electric sector’s needs in both cyber and physical security as well as their interdependencies. Mrs. Bourge most recently led the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) grid security efforts. Prior to APPA she represented and advocated for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) on grid security and resiliency issues.
