A recent study by the Council of Economic Advisers reported that every sector of the clean energy market experienced at least 8.9% growth over a two year period with job in solar energy expanding 18.4%. Our speakers Kevin Doyle and Phil Jordan will outline the potential career opportunities and trends in energy efficiency and clean tech.  Both Kevin and Phil have a wealth of experience working in the clean tech sectors including workforce development.  If you are graduating college soon, considering a career change or want to know the latest trends in clean tech opportunities don’t miss this program!

About the Speakers

Kevin Doyle

Kevin Doyle is an independent Boston-based consultant serving environmental and sustainability clients in business, government, academia and the nonprofit sector since 2007. He provides a wide range of services, including: strategic planning, facilitation for leadership decision-making, workforce development assistance, labor market research, employer engagement for higher education, and professional training.

Kevin also leads workforce development programming for the member companies of the New England Clean Energy Council (www.cleanenergycouncil.org). He co-manages the clean energy education and training directory (www.cleanenergyeducation.org), leads the NECEC’s role in the Massachusetts Clean Energy Industry Internship Program, and co-authors the Massachusetts Clean Energy Industry Reportand Vermont Clean Energy Industry Report (as a member of the team from BW Research Partnership).

Kevin’s work has been noted by New York Times, Boston Globe, Boston Globe Magazine, Newsweek, Forbes, E Magazine, Marketplace Money, Living on Earth, National Public Radio, Sierra, Outside, Chronicle Channel 5 (Boston), Mass High Tech News, Boston Business Journal, and more.

Kevin is the co-author of three books about eco-careers for Island Press, including The ECO Guide to Careers That Make a Difference: Environmental Work for a Sustainable World and The Complete Guide to Environmental Careers in the 21st Century.

Philip Jordan

Philip Jordan is the Executive Director of the Economic Advancement Research Institute and Vice-President of BW Research Partnership, with offices in Massachusetts and California.  Mr. Jordan has extensive experience studying the innovation economy, in particular, clean energy and ICT.  He has authored dozens of reports including The Solar Foundation's annual Solar Jobs Census, the Natural Resource Defense Council's American Wind Farms Report, Solar and Wind Labor Market Analyses for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, statewide clean energy studies for nine states, and numerous local reports for workforce boards, community colleges, and municipalities.  He recently published a book with El Sevier on the global solar industry. He has worked in private industry, academia, and government, including the California Community Colleges, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the United States Senate. He received his B.S. in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and his J.D. and certificate in Environmental Law from Boston College Law School.
